10 QUESTIONS TO YAHSHUA IN THE GOSPELS
© Carlos Padilla – August 2023
1.- Lord, save us, we perish? Jesus calms the Storm.
How many times in life we find ourselves at the verge of an impossible situation, even close to death? To cry out to Jesus, pray to God is so powerful that changes our perception of our relationship with Him, makes our faith grow, and it changes us forever.
The Lord Yahshua, as the Son of God, is the Creator (John 1 – 1 Corinthians 8:6) and therefore He dominated Creation, which surprised the apostles, and today He continues to surprise many. “And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him. 24 And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep. 25 And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish. 26 And he saith unto them, why are ye fearful, o ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm. 27 But the men marvelled, saying, what manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!”
Matthew 8:23 – Mark 4:38 – Luke 8:22.

2.- Good Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life? The Good Samaritan.
When the lawyer stood up and asked this question to the Lord Jesus, the Lord replied with the Great Commandment, to what the lawyer replied that he already did that. But insisted and asked the Lord: And who is my neighbour? To what the Lord replied with the Parable of the Good Samaritan: Luke 10:25-37 important to remember it if you have not read it recently, I invite you to read it, because in it we have a summary of how we should treat foreigners in need, but today, who stops to aid a foreigner?
And because they all seek salvation, another asked: What good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life? As if salvation could be obtained by deeds, efforts or personal merits, and therefore Jesus concludes by telling him that, once he had sold everything, which means once we have got rid of all things from this world in our heart, not only wealth, then we will be ready to: “come, follow Me”, and only then we can learn from the Teacher His Way to Salvation that He explains further, about the work of God that we may work the works of God for eternal life. (Matthew 19:16 – Mark 10:17 – Luke 18:18). But also, another one asked: What shall we do, that we may work the works of God? And Jesus, who is the Bread of Life, answered and said to them: “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.” John 6:25-59.

3.- How can a man be born again when he is old? Jesus and Nicodemus.
That ruler of the Jews, a doctor and recognized member of the Sanhedrin, believed in Jesus as the Messiah, but did not understand the spiritual dimension of which the Lord was speaking: Yahshua was speaking of a new birth from the Holy Spirit in us through faith, which comes from the grace of God. A marvel that transforms our being forever and that is only possible through the work of God. John 3:1-21.
But also, the disciples had questions for Him when they had spent time in His ministry, when Jesus was talking to them about the Way to God. Lord, we do not know where You are going and how can we know the way? Jesus is the Way to the Father: “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him.” John 14:5-14.

4.- Why do You speak to them in parables? Allegories and spiritual meaning.
Yahshua answered this question talking to them about the Words of Isaiah the prophet, when he would not speak to those who justified themselves in the Law and in their traditions, and do not repent humbly before God, to those God speaks in a way that they would not hear or see, nor understand the mysteries of God, but to the humble, because if we don’t become like children before God, the heart hardens and prides itself, and to those the Way to God is not opened. “But blessed are your eyes for they see, and your ears for they hear; 17 for assuredly, I say to you that many prophets and righteous men desired to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it.”
Matthew 13:10 – Mark 4:10 – Luke 8:9.

5.- Why could we not cast out the demon from the lunatic boy?
Today mental illnesses run rampant in our society, but are treated with isolation, chemical medicines, and other treatments. To talk of a lunatic is not usual, but the truth is that there are always cases of spiritual battles. The question for us is if we are ready to enter into these battels of the spiritual dimension for love to our neighbour.
The Lord answered: “So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. 21 However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”
Matthew 17:19 – Mark 9:14 – Luke 9:37.

6.- In the resurrection which wife of the seven will she be?
Certainly, the question goes beyond the resurrection, for it adds a whole new spiritual dimension of how life will be in the Kingdom of God and the relationships between people. The Sadducees, the group of the Sanhedrin that did not believe in the resurrection, on the contrary to the Pharisees, that did believe, with this question were trying to put Jesus in a difficult position. The answer of the Teacher not only would affirm that the resurrection is a fact that would come to pass, but also was providing them with information about the spiritual life, that of the spiritual raised body of which the apostle Paul also tells us. A relevant question, no doubt, but an unexpected answer for many. Some will be sad for their ignorance of a spiritual relationship further than marriage in this world than the one we know, sure it will be better and deeper in His Kingdom than the one we may experience here, where we are limited by the flesh. “You are mistaken, not knowing the Scripture and the power of God. For in the resurrection, they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like the angles of God in heaven…”
Matthew 22:28 – Mark 12:18 – Luke 20:27.

7.- Teacher, which is the Great Commandment?
The answer that Yahshua gave about which was the Great Commandment of the Law was going further than: “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.” Because the second was similar and added: “You shall love your neighbour as yourself.” And said that of these two Commandments the Lay and the prophets depended. (Matthew 22:36 – Mark 12:28).
But the Pharisees, as always, seeking to find any controversial point, askes who was their neighbour. To that, Jesus gave a lecture of spiritual love and humility which the man of religion does not know, and which must be seen with a heart that loves God, when He spoke to them about the Judgment to the Nations, where they said: “When did we see you hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink…? …Assuredly I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.” (Matthew 25:37).
But the teaching that I believe touches our hearts most when talking about the love to the neighbour is the Parable of the Good Samaritan in (Luke 10:25-37) which concludes when the lawyer asked the Teacher about what thing he could do to inherit eternal life and Jesus agreed with him about the love to God and to the neighbour. But wanting to justify himself he asked Him: “And who is my neighbour?” And he realises that what he had to do to follow the way of God is to use mercy with any person that, as the good Samaritan did helping who needed of mercy and help, is how we would like to be treated. Let us go and do likewise as Jesus asked him to do.
Also, before these questions and answers, the Teacher had been teaching about the harness of the heart when forgiving a brother who sins against us: “How often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him; up to seven times?” Forgiveness would go even to seventy times seven, if one truly repents, (Matthew 18:21).
But, to complete all this compendium of answer of the sane doctrine of Christ, we cannot avoid mentioning the doctrine that culminates the teaching of the Teacher: “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” (John 13:31-35). “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.” (John 15:13). The Great Commandment comes from the heart of God in ours, He is the source of the true eternal love.

8.- When will these things be, and what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end…?
The end times, the Eschatology and its study have been and must be of great interest for the believer for receiving light through the biblical prophecies, and they do precisely so we are not deceived with false prophecy, fears and abuse. Therefore, the Lord Yahshua did not doubt to reveal to His apostles the information that we must know to know which times and what signs will precede the second coming of Christ. First He spoke to them about the destruction of the Temple of Jerusalem, which occurred in the year 70 A.D. and initiated the new era of Christianity, and the new era of Israel without Temple and in the diaspora. There would be false christs and false prophets, but there would be wars and rumours of war, nation would rise against nation, pestilences, famines and earthquakes in different places. They will deliver Christians to tribulation, death and to be hated, but the Gospel of the Kingdom will be first preached to all nations and then the end will come.
After that Great Tribulation, the son will be darkened, and the moon shall not give its lite, and the stars will fall from heaven… …Then they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory, and He will send His angels with great sound of trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds… The heavens and the earth will pass away, but My Words will by no means pass away. But, even if we seek the Kingdom of God to see it coming, Jesus teaches us that the Kingdom of God is among us. It will not come with observation, but as the lightning, like in the days of Noah, while the world lives foolishly, suddenly they will be surprised by the coming of Jesus Christ.
Matthew 24 – Mark 13 – Luke 21.
On their side, the apostles Peter, John, and Paul received revelation of the prophecies of the end times, understanding from the Holy Spirit about eschatology. Peter says that the heavens and new earth that exist now will be burned, but the Lord will bring new heavens and new earth, in which justice dwells, (2 Peter 3). Paul talks about the rapture of the Church before the end, (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18). And John, in Revelation provides us with a complete book with the Revelation of Jesus Christ for the end.

9.- How can You say, you will be made free? The Truth Shall Make You Free.
Jesus was teaching the Jews that His Word was the truth, and if they remained in it, they will indeed be free. They justified themselves because they were linage of Abraham and were not slaves of anyone. They did not understand, but Jesus explained that, even if they were followers of the religion and had good will, they needed be set free from the slavery to sin, for what Yahshua had come to die on the cross to cleanse us through faith in His work, through His blood, as the Lamb of God, once and forever, if they received Him as the Messiah and Saviour, because the Levitical priesthood cannot. In the same way, today we need to be set free from the slavery to sin, all humanity, and the only one that gives us the power to overcome it is Christ through His work and through the Holy Spirit sent inside us to dwell in us, and only Him can give us the power to overcome it, through faith. (John 8:31-59).

10.- Are You the King of the Jews?
The main argument that the Sanhedrin used to accuse the Lord Jesus was for being King and said to Pilate in a hypocritical way that they only served one king, Cesar. But Yahshua or Yeshua is the King of kings, and the King of the Jews, Jesus Christ. Pilate asked Him directly to Jesus if He was the King of the Jews, and Jesus replied: “It is as you say” and “Are you speaking for yourself about this, or did others tell you this concerning Me?… …My kingdom is not of this world… …Are You a king then?… …You say rightly that I am a king. For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.”
Matthew 27:11-14 – Mark 15:2-5 – Luke 23:3-5 – John 18:33-38.
In the title that Pilate put on the Cross, we find a pearl of the Lord, though bitter is true because He was and is primarily, as well as King of the Gentiles, King of the Jews. The famous Latin title was INRI, but the Gospel says that primarily it was written in Hebrew and also in Greek. The three languages are for the following reason: Hebrew was the official language of the Temple, Greek was the cultural and commercial language, what today is English, and Latin was the official language of the Roman Empire. These initials were of the words that informed of the cause of the sentence of the crucified, and in the case of the Lord, as we all know, the Latin stand for «Iesvs Nazarenvs Rex Ivdaervm». Latin uses the letter «I» instead of «J», and «V», instead of «U». The translation to English is easy: «Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews». In Greek we find INBI or INVI with V from the ancient Greek: Iesous, Nazoraios, Vasileus, Ioudaion. But the pearl is in the Tetragammaton or name of God, which is an abbreviation as a title in Hebrew: YHWH «Yahshua HaNotzri W’Melej HaYehudim», which means the same as INVI and that INRI, Yahshua is Jesus, HaNotzri is From Nazareth, W’Melej or V’Melej with V or W, is King, and HaYehudim, is Of the Jews. There are also writings where other languages used IHVH for the Tetragram. IHVH, INVI, INRI. Taken from the Bible Study of our Spanish site.
Are You the Coming One, or do we look for another? Are You the Christ?
Also, the disciples of John the Baptist had asked Him during His ministry if He was the coming one, or if they would look for another, and if He was the Messiah, the Christ. His answer was overwhelming: “The blind see and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up and the poor have the Gospel preached to them. And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me.”
Matthew 11:1-19 – Luke 7:18-35.
The Jews, in their majority were waiting, as well as now, a Messiah military and national king, in the way of David, that would set them free from the oppression of Rome and allowed them to live in their nation free, but God had to reign first in their hearts, and set them free from sin, like any one of us from any time or nation. But Yahshua answers: I am…! The following is a Bible Study about the prophecies of Jesus Christ fulfilled in Himself where 10 references to “I am” are included:

CONCLUSION
What would you ask Jesus if you had been with Him? These 10 questions to Yahshua in the Gospels transport us to a personal situation before the Teacher, to Whom we would have asked these and many other things, many of which surely we have already asked Him in prayer, and of which we receive answer, both in the Gospels as well as in our own life.
To ask God is the best thing we can do always, because God loves us and always answers us in ways we can receive and in the time that is more convenient. But, also, the Lord Jesus confirms to us a precious pearl that He has left with us until He returns and we can be with Him in paradise, that the Holy Spirit helps us ask and pray in the best way possible, so we are not alone, not even when we ask God because He himself has taken care to comfort us all the time. “Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.” Romans 8:26. Therefore, let us ask God always, because the Spirit intercedes for us, and does it with all dedication from the love of God. Amen.
